BASF: Dismantling of maleic anhydride plant in Feluy begins

12/03/2010

In line with its previously announced plans BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has ceased producing maleic anhydride at its plant in Feluy / Belgium. In the end, the decision was not influenced by local workers’ strikes.

The dismantling of the 115,000 t/y line will begin shortly, the group said. Reports indicate that the feedstock for polyester polymers, unsaturated polyester resins and PUR was sold only to external customers in the region. In future, BASF intends to supply these clients with bought materials.
