PolyOne: Solutions for wood plastic composites developed

US compounder and distributor PolyOne (Akron, Ohio; www.polyone.com) says it has developed a fibre treatment technology for enhancing the performance of traditional wood plastic composites (WPCs). The patent-pending technology enables improved resistance to weathering, mould and mildew, scratching, staining and water absorption, the company said.

PolyOne has also introduced a portfolio of customised chemical foaming agents for WPCs. The additives, it said, can help manufacturers increase the strength and reduce the weight of the finished part.
