Cosmetic Clear Barex: New grade with more transparency for cosmetics

INEOS Barex (Delaware, USA) and VELOX (Germany), the Hamburg-based European distribution company for raw material specialities and sole distributor for Barex in Europe, launch the new “Cosmetic Clear Barex”. This newly formulated grade targets all kinds of applications where improved transparency is required.

Barex resins belong to a family of acrylonitrile-methyl acrylate copolymers (AMAB) and offer high barrier properties to gases such as oxygen and nitrogen, as well as chemical resistance and inertness. The barrier to aromas, fragrances and volatile components is outstanding and provides no or negligible interaction between packaging and content.

Barex is a unique specialty polymer providing solutions for a wide variety of packaging and fabrication needs. Current applications include extruded and calendered sheet, blown film, injection and extrusion blown bottles and injection molded and engineered components.
Initially used in packaging processed meat, correction fluid, gasoline additives and agrochemicals, its use has expanded to an ever-widening range of high demanding applications in the fields of food, pharmaceutical and medical packaging.

Barex resins comply with EEC Directives for direct food contact and meet requirements for a USP Class VI Medical Plastic and EU pharmacopoeias.

Additionally to the standard properties of BAREX, including also high stiffness, the Cosmetic Clear Barex offers higher clarity making it the ideal product for glass substitution. When compared to glass Barex presents many advantages: lightweight, design flexibility, ease to grip and handle, improved safety at home…
Perfect for cosmetic applications, Cosmetic Clear Barex is also suitable for packaging applications such as medical and pharmaceutical products, personal care products and food packaging.
