In the processing of PET granulate and flakes for the production of preforms, material temperatures of up to 180°C are needed at the inlet of the injection-moulding machine. If metal separators are to be used at the "Last Chance Control Point" they must in all aspects be designed and manufactured for these high temperatures, which is an immense challenge for the stability of detection coil and electronics. The Protector-XHT metal separator with a max. permissible material temperature of 200ºC has been specifically designed for this high-temperature environment.

Reason
So far metal separators that are needed for mould and machine protection and for quality assurance only could be used up to a maximum plastic granulate temperature of 140ºC. Therefore such systems always were installed before material drying, which in most applications meant that several systems were required. Protector-XHT has been specifically designed for material temperatures of up to 200°C and can thus be installed directly at the inlet of the injection-moulding machine.
