Using calcium carbonate masterbatch (CaC03) is more economical than using polyolefin and also increases productivity (see sheet).

Producing 300 t/month of film using CaC03 can amount to a saving of € 90,000 a year.

How does it increase productivity?

The thermal conductivity of CaC03 facilitates uniform melting.Its particles do not expand.The internal volume of the spindle is reducedThe density of the mixture is increased and viscosity is reduced.

All these factors result in a lower melting pressure that—along with the increased productivity of the spindle that facilitates quicker bubble cooling—leads to increased film production.

Increased Productivity

As well as increased productivity, a better quality film is obtained. There is a smaller deviation in thickness tolerances and a reduction in the variation of film width and folds. There is also less adhesion between film layers after production and during prolonged storage. When using CaC03, ink adhesion for film printing is greater and print quality is improved along with quicker printing and a reduced rejection-rate.

CaC03 is also more environmentally sustainable. It reduces energy consumption and green house gas emissions, helping the environment and improving the public image of the company using it.
