The GRAFE Group is presenting a new additive masterbatch in the field of counterfeit protection for synthetic yarns and fibers. The patent-pending solution is based on a new combination of chemical substances for product marking which can be detected both qualitatively and quantitatively on the final application by means of XRF (X-ray fluorescence analysis). The new masterbatch for synthetic yarns targets both commodities and specialties based on PP, PA and PET.
The active ingredients in the marker masterbatch can be used in many plastic materials and cannot be destroyed during the normal processing of thermoplastics. In addition, they are resistant to solvents, scrubbing solutions, dye baths and spinning oils. This means that they can also be used in tub-dyed yarns if the additive is included into the uncolored synthetic yarn. It is possible to add colors to the masterbatch, thus providing customers with a complete solution. The marker masterbatch – as a stand-alone-solution – can be used with lower dosages, in general 1% by weight. It has no significant effect on the coloring or on the mechanical properties of the final application.
The GRAFE Group provides technical support and assistance during the first evaluation of the marker masterbatch with its own in-house lab by means of XRF-analysis. This testing device can otherwise detect heavy metals and other elements in any thermoplastic material (semi-finished and finished products, granulate). Customers interested in a unique and at any time verifiable marking of end products (comodities or specialties) can evaluate the new GRAFE’s marker masterbatch. An exclusive solution can also be made available upon request by means of an individualized fine-tuning.
